Globoplay

Context
In 2021, Globo's digital hub committed to improving the accessibility of the products of the G family, including the Globoplay app. Although the topic gained visibility, it was still underprioritized compared to business and marketing demands.
Our initial challenge was: how to make accessibility a continuous and relevant agenda within product teams?

Legal basis and starting point
Upon identifying the Bill 1090/2021, which establishes minimum accessibility criteria for websites and apps, I began mapping the applicable requirements for our product. This analysis revealed three critical points:
Many of the features did not apply to the TV app;
Of those that did apply, almost none were implemented;
There was little technical and practical understanding of accessibility within the teams.
Investigation and internal alignment
To make the topic more tangible, I simplified the discussion through real and visual use scenarios, initiating rounds of conversation among different products and areas. From this:
We founded the Accessibility Forum of the digital hub;
We organized a lecture with a developer master in inclusive education, bringing fundamentals and best practices;
We engaged the team in identifying improvement dynamics focused on users with different types of disabilities.

Definition and prioritization of deliverables
I led a prioritization dynamics with an impact x complexity matrix, which allowed us to define viable short- and medium-term deliverables.

Main deliverables:
Review of all CTAs to make the language clearer;
Adaptation of QR codes with accessible links;
Implementation of sound navigation feedback;
Simulation of use by colorblind users;
Inclusion of captioning information on title pages.
Results and continuity
We managed to deliver a strategic accessibility plan and raise stakeholders' awareness of the importance of continuously evolving it. We also consolidated the Forum as an active space for exchanges between products and reuse of accessible code and components.
Planned evolutions
Guides for screen reader and keyboard navigation (TV, web, and mobile);
Study and adjustments of accessible colors in channel palettes;
Accessibility control center with customizable options;
Discussions with the content team about subtitles, transcription, and accessible content.
